4Daughter Loves It

I scoured the internet and toy stores for a kitchen for my 2 year old. My wife and I decided it would be her big gift this year. She has two other little kitchen sets, but they were in the 6+mos and 12mos ranges. We love to watch Cake Boss, and when it is on, she will go over to her little kitchen sets and start "mixing" dishes to make, but they didn't have ovens! Now she has a nice full kitchen. I was excited to see that the microwave has actual ons on it and makes noise. The construction was fairly simple and didn't take me that long. The hardest part was screwing it together since there no predrilled holes, only indentations. Instructions clear and straightforward, almost like reading IKEA instructions, but with more words. It's not too big, so it doesn't take up a lot of room and it looks like she'll be able to enjoy it for at least 2 more years. There is just enough counter space for her to use for other things like her dolls. It's the perfect height for her right now at just under her shoulders, the counter that is. The whole thing is tall enough that we can keep things out of her reach by putting them on top. I love that it has a recycle bin! She helps me recycle already, and i love that Step 2 encourages this for the children.

5Was worried at first, but it looks great!

So after watching what had to be the 50th cliche robot/solider/superhero/truck/action figure toy commercial for boys and barbie/fairy princess/baby doll/tea set/sparkly art project toy commercial for girls, I decided I wanted my son to have a little more variety in his toy box.

I decided a kitchen set would be appropriate since my son is always watching his grandmother cook and is always interested in helping her. I didn't want anything too big but wanted something interactive enough to keep my son's interest. I was WORRIED about this product at first, because I had seen a few complaints elsewhere from people who had taller kids or had children older than 2. My 4 year old is pretty tall for his age, so even with the measurements given, I thought it might be too tall for him, or he's outgrow it quick.

Well, we have it and my son loves it! It is a little below his waist but he doesn't seem to mind. He LOVES the sounds the microwave and the stove makes and even though he's only received it yesterday (on Christmas) he's made enough watermelon and pizza stew to last a week!

Pros - Very nice to look at, doesn't take up too much space, easy to put together, my son loves the frying and boiling sounds.

Cons - Hope you don't have kids that like to climb things. This is good up against the wall but be wary if you have climbers. My son was disappointed the frying noises don't work on his red pans, only on the pans that came with the set. Also, while easy to put together, I would use an electric drill instead of a screwdriver. Makes the job go so much quicker.

So I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a girl or a boy. And when my son gets tired of cooking, he just pretends to fix the oven with his new tools. :->

5Great play kitchen!

My son loves it and I like that it is not pink! Very gender neutral which a rarity in play kitchens.
