1WAAAYYYY too short and simplistic

Half of the book (and it is NOT a long book AT ALL) is spent telling you how to teach you kids to do things like - chop, whisk, stir,etc. (maybe some people looking for this type of help - but I am comfortable with showing my daughter how to stir food in a bowl without instructions) then when it finally gets to the recipes - some of them things like fruit salad??? I didn't want it to be filled with complicated recipes but I also didn't want a recipe on chopped fruit. I think the author put "Montessori way" and then people like me were sucked into thinking it would be great but it is a let down for $18.80. If I came across this book at a brick and mortar store I would have put it down in two seconds. Maybe if the recipes were kicked up just a bit and the author laminated the pages (lets face it kids messy in the kitchen) and ring binds it so that it can lay flat - it might become useful. Concept is good but implementation is weak.

5Simple and delicious ideas to help your children get started in the kitchen
@_*Elizabeth Dehnart
Kids in the Kitchen is beautifully and thoughtfully written and designed. Every step is clearly laid out for ease of use and easy to follow. The book is broken down into intuitively laid out sections, including "How to Use This Book," "How to Set Up the Kitchen," "Skills," and "Recipes." If you're unfamiliar with Montessori, the authors offer a brief but thorough grounding in the background and explain how and why giving children responsibility in the kitchen is beneficial.

The graphic design is fresh and appealing, and makes following the recipes a smooth process. Kids and adults alike will appreciate the simple, detailed instructions, with helpful photographs illustrating each step.

Although I'm an adult, I prefer uncomplex food, so I've adopted a few of these recipes for my own daily life. I'm also planning to give copies as gifts to my friends with young children.

4Good, but could be Better

I was really excited to get this book. I love all things Montessori and was hoping to get some good ideas about how to incorporate my 2 year old in the kitchen more. He already helps quite a bit by pouring ingredients into the bowl and helping me stir and measure- things like that. That being said, I felt like this book just gave me more of the same and not much new to think about. The recipes nice because they simple and easy to follow. However, what saved this book was all the info on where to purchase the child size items featured in the book. That was exactly what I wanted to know while flipping through it the first time and that's what got it the 4th star.
