3Loved at first, but now not so sure...

As a mother of 3 yr old twins, I was excited to find these cups to help them transition from the traditional "sippy" with a spout/straw to learning how to handle a "big kid" cup. The design seams ingenious and simple and the colors worked for us since we needed to have "his" and "hers". Easy to unscrew, easy to hold, etc etc etc.

It is now a solid two months later and I am starting to notice mold forming right below the mouth opening. When I place these in the top rack of the dishwasher I make sure they upright and they typically come out that way as well. The spray doesn't jostle them around or anything, so as far as I know, no food is getting lodged in the spout section. There is no way to keep the spout open unfortunately to allow the air and water to flow through freely which I suppose would be somewhat ideal. However, after soaking them and spraying them on the highest setting my kitchen sink sprayer is capable of (to get the water in the tiny spout a) the mold will not release. I tried using a Q-tip and now there is fuzz stuck in there as well.

I would love to give these a 5 star review because I really wanted them to work for us and my kids LOVED them... but I just can't see continuing to use them if I cannot access the interior of the spout a to clean out wver is causing the dark black spots (that I believe mold) to appear. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be open to hearing!! My husband wants me to throw them out but I to do that so I've set them aside in hopes of brainstorming a better way/solution to our problem.

So, just three stars for now. :(

2Mold. BLUCK!
@_*K. Thomas
These cups do NOT leak. Thought they were a great solution so my kid isn't carrying around a sippey cup anymore. He likes them too. HOWEVER, fast forward about 9 months and I'm upset with myself for not having closely inspected the tops before now.
I've always swished water through the tops with the valve open and then put them into the dish washer. Today I decided to boil them (we have 3). First, every one of the tops now does not function properly - the on presses in and stays - doesn't pop back out. I very well might have boiled them too long (5 minutes). But the worst part is that I now see black mold on the top of the rubber at the mouth piece and under it (I stuck a knife under and lifted it up.) I suppose the hot water allowed it to slide out, or considering it wont come off, perhaps its that it shrank and is now showing. I also popped off the vent cover. OH MY! NASTY! I'm surprised my kid isn't sick! I've tried popping out the innards of the top to see what is under there, but can't get it out.
I might try purchasing one more and start shoving a toothpick in the valve prior to putting in the dishwasher, but I'll be keeping a CLOSE eye on it. So buyer bew and proceed with caution.

5great transition from sippee cups
@_*mom's trying
I have an adult version and my 3.5 year old started drinking from (wouldn't have thought she'd be that coordinated). She's too old for sippee cups now but still spills in the car or on walks sometimes so this is perfect. Some reviewers complain about cleaning it but it comes with extremely detailed cleaning instructions and says to only use with water. I've not had a problem with mold growing or anything with mine or hers.
